NEW GPS SPEED SENSOR TO REPLACE MECHANICAL SPEED SENSOR.

THIS ONLY APPLIES TO CARS THAT ARE USING A STOCK SPEEDOMETER AND TRANSMISSION WITH CABLE-DRIVEN SPEEDOMETER. IF YOU HAVE A NEWER TRANSMISSION WITH A BUILT-IN SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL THEN THIS GPS SENSOR IS NOT NEEDED.

I HAVE ADAPTED THE CONNECTOR FROM THE ORIGINAL MECHANICAL SENSOR TO THE GPS SENSOR.  IN SOLDERED THE WIRES AND USED HEAT SHRINK TUBING TO INSULATE THE CONNECTIONS FROM EACH OTHER.  SO THE GPS SENSOR PLUGS DIRECTLY INTO THE EPS WIRING HARNESS

NEXT I WANT TO SEE WHERE CAN MOUNT THE SENSOR AND HAVE CONSISTENT RECEPTION OF THE SATELLITE GPS SIGNAL.  I’D LIKE TO BE ABLE TO MOUNT THE SENSOR IN THE FOOTWELL, BUT IT WILL DEPEND ON IF I CAN KEEP A STEADY “GREEN LED” ON THE SENSOR.  I ALSO WANT TO DO SOME COMPARISON TEST WITH THE SENSOR CONNECT AND WITH THE SENSOR DISCONNECTED, TO SEE IF I CAN TELL A DIFFERENCE IN THE POWER ASSIST AT HIGHER SPEEDS.  I DON’T KNOW OF ANY OTHER WAY TO DETERMINE IF THE SENSOR IS ACTUALLY CAUSING THE EPS TO TURN DOWN THE POWER ASSIST AT HIGHER SPEEDS.
